  1. There used to be a house near where I grew up that had whale bones in an arch at the front gate. They looked just like those ones at the head.

  2. What amazes me is that a carcass like this isn't quickly buried under the sediment. The sea floor must be very tranquil for a large whale to just lie there long enough to decompose and be cleaned down to its bones.
